Our History and Our Future

A Personal Message From Our Founders

When we established Rehab First in 2000, we perceived that there were gaps in the delivery of rehabilitation services for complex and catastrophic injury cases. The collaboration, service quality and intimate understanding that had defined our previous firm, Associative Rehabilitation Inc., before its acquisition by Aetna, were attributes that we wanted to exemplify for our Rehab First clients.

Our initial objectives were modest: build rehabilitation consulting relationships based on understanding, trust and uncompromising attention to clinical, reporting and service quality in a limited geographic area.

In 2005, we embarked on a mission to deliver a broader range of services to more clients in an enlarged geographic area. In the years since we have grown ten-fold and take pride in being able to consistently provide services to clients who have a wide range of conditions, and who are referred to us by hospitals, employers, insurers and personal injury lawyers and clinicians across Ontario.

Our FirstAssist™ discharge facilitation service is dedicated to the needs of hospital discharge professionals for JIT (just-in-time) responsiveness by our Occupational Therapists, Nurses and Social Workers. WorkPathways® is our specialized suite of twenty assessment, treatment and Return-to-Work services for employers and disability insurers.

We also respect the interests of others who have a stake in the outcomes of our efforts, such as families, employers, legal representatives and insurers.
