Andrew Montecastro - Rehabilitation Therapist

R. Kin.

Andrew Montecastro completed his Bachelors of Science Degree in Sports Science from the University of Santo Tomas in the Philippines and successfully participated in continuing education courses such as Functional and Kinetic Treatment with Rehab, Soft Tissue Release, Chronic Pain Diagnosis and Management for Healthcare Providers, Management of Post-Concussion Syndrome, Rocktape Kinesiology Taping and FMS Level 1. He is registered in good standing with the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario and has been the recipient of the Hamilton Spectator – Reader’s Choice Kinesiologist Platinum recognition from 2016-2018.

 

Andrew is a rehabilitation therapist who has extensive experiences working with individuals with catastrophic impairments such as traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries and chronic pain. Andrew’s scope of practice includes strength and conditioning, exercise program assessment and planning, gait training, exercise prescription, activities of daily living, assistive devices education and implementation, community reintegration, cognitive and behavioural reactivation, adjustment to injury, educational assistance and aquatic-based exercises. Andrew lives in Hamilton, Ontario and is dedicated to servicing the needs of clientele in the West GTA area.

Angela Calvert - Rehabilitation Therapist, Functional Abilities Evaluator, Certified Vocational Rehabilitation Professional

B.Sc. Kin, R. Kin, CVRP

Angela Calvert is a Rehabilitation Therapist for Rehab First. She completed her Bachelors of Science Degree in Honours Kinesiology at the University of Waterloo where she specialized in Biomechanics. She is also a Registered Kinesiologist with the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario and a professional member of the Ontario Kinesiology Association. Angela has experience performing functional abilities evaluations, ergonomic evaluations, physical demands analysis, post-offer employment testing, work hardening programs, in home assessments, and developing exercise rehabilitation programs.


As a Rehab Therapist at Rehab First, Angela works one-on-one with clients providing both cognitive and physical rehabilitation therapy in clinical and community settings. She also has expertise in hydrotherapy and teaching job safe practices and safe lifting mechanics. Angela completed her Certified Vocational Rehabilitation Professional in 2020 and will continue to provide vocational services within Rehab First. Angela provides services within the Barrie and surrounding area.

 

Attieh (Atty) Yazdy – Rehabilitation Therapist

H.BSc, CSEP-CPT

Atty Yazdy is a Rehabilitation Therapist with Rehab First who completed her Honours Kinesiology degree at McMaster University. She has extensive kinesiology experiences in various rehabilitative environments, from private clinics to acute-care hospitals, continuing care centers, and rehabilitation gyms. Over the years she has assisted with and created exercise programs for seniors and clients with a variety of chronic conditions including spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, cardiac conditions, and more. She is looking forward to providing rehabilitative therapy services to clients in the GTA and Mississauga regions.
 

Christi Zruna – Manager, Account Management Group & Rehabilitation Consultant

B.H.K., (Honours)

Dedicated to the needs of clients who reside in the Hamilton/Niagara region, Christi brings a wealth of experience in both clinical and disability management services to Rehab First. Her casework encompasses short and long term disability claims, injuries sustained from motor vehicle collisions and chronic pain.


Christi’s areas of expertise include wellness and exercise programming, vocational rehabilitation, case management services, housekeeping and home maintenance assessments, ergonomic and job site analyses and functional abilities evaluations. An Honours Kinesiology graduate of the University of Windsor, she is a long standing Certified Kinesiologist with the Ontario Kinesiology Association.

 

Garrett King – Rehabilitation Therapist

B.A. Kin

Garrett graduated from Brock University with a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and has been working as a Kinesiologist for over two years. Garrett has also completed a diploma program in Fitness and Health Promotion from Niagara College, as well as a post-graduate certificate in Exercise Science for Health and Performance, also from Niagara College. While completing these programs, Garrett was able to gain valuable experience working with various populations in clinical and community settings as he worked with clients to help them achieve their goals and improve their overall quality of life.


Garrett has extensive experience working with clients from varying populations with a wide variety of injuries and health conditions. He has worked in various health settings such as chiropractor clinics, physiotherapy clinics, fitness centers and medical facilities. As a Rehab Therapist at Rehab First, Garrett works with clients to provide cognitive and physical therapy in clinical and community settings. Garrett is proud to service clients in London and surrounding areas.

 

Jackie Hart – Rehabilitation Therapist

R.Kin, B.H.Sc : Kinesiology and Health Promotion

Jackie Hart is a Rehabilitation Therapist for Rehab First. She completed her Bachelors Health Science - Kinesiology and Health Promotion at Sheridan College. She is also a Registered Kinesiologist with the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario. Jackie has experience conducting functional assessments, creating work hardening programs and developing return to work plans.


She has experiencing working with the geriatric population for brain, body and balance training as well as facilitating restorative walking programs. She has worked with a variety of clients including those with chronic conditions: stroke, Alzheimer’s Disease and Parkinson’s.


Jackie lives in Cambridge, Ontario and seeing clients in the KW region.

 

Jasmine Mohan – Rehabilitation Therapist

B.Sc. Kin, R.Kin

Jasmine completed her Bachelor’s Degree of Health Science in Kinesiology with a specialization in Health and Wellness from the University Of Ontario Institute Of Technology. She is a Registered Kinesiologist with the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario and a professional member of the Kinesiology Association of Ontario. Jasmine’s experience has trained her to bring a high degree of expertise and management to each case. In addition, her professional experience and educational background have prepared and allowed her to demonstrate a high level of clinical aptitude. She has gained years of professional experience in working with various conditions such as MSK conditions, orthopedic injuries, disc budging and herniation, muscle weakness, pre and post- operative, neuromuscular conditions and many more. A common accountability within her professional experience has been to design, implement, educate patients on, and modify specialized treatment plans and exercise regimens for individuals from various populations. Jasmine is a strong believer that patient recovery is not based on their treatment alone, but on the overall treatment experience. She is proud to be providing services within the Toronto and Durham region.
 

Jennifer Bruin - Rehabilitation Therapist

R.Kin, B.H.K.

Jennifer Bruin is a Registered Kinesiologist who obtained her Bachelor of Human Kinetics (Honors Movement Science) from the University of Windsor. Jennifer is a member of the Ontario Kinesiology Association. She has previous experience working in long term care facilities. Jennifer has joined the Windsor team of Rehab First Inc.

 

Jennifer Pollock – Rehabilitation Therapist

Jennifer Pollock graduated from the University of Guelph with an Honours Bachelor of Science in Human Kinetics in 2006. Jennifer is a Registered Kinesiologist with the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario and a professional member with the Ontario Kinesiology Association. Jennifer has also completed Level 1 Training through the Ontario Brain Injury Association (OBIA).


Jennifer has extensive experience working with clients from varying populations and therapeutic environments including, long term health care facilities/retirement homes, physiotherapy clinics, and fitness centres. Jennifer has experience assisting clients with activities of daily living, developing and implementing exercise programs for individuals with a variety of physical abilities, therapeutic taping, proper therapeutic modality use, and developing and implementing work hardening and hydrotherapy programs. Jennifer provides physical and cognitive rehabilitation therapy to clients in London and the surrounding areas who have suffered injury or disability as a result of motor-vehicle collisions, workplace accidents or illness with the goal of helping clients reach their maximum functional potential.

 

Jeremy Hall - Rehabilitation Therapist

R.Kin, (Honours)

Jeremy Hall obtained his Kinesiology Degree from Brock University and obtained a post-graduate diploma in Exercise Science for Health and Performance from Niagara College. Jeremy has a wealth of experience providing rehabilitation therapy to clients with acquired brain injuries including physical rehabilitation and cognitive therapy. He also has experience treating shoulder and ankle injuries, providing exercise programs for seniors, and leading exercise programs for healthy individuals. Jeremy will be seeing clients in St. Catharines and Niagara regions.

 

Kal Karim - Rehabilitation Therapist 

Kin, B.A. (Honours) Kin 

Kal obtained his Kinesiology degree from the University of Western Ontario with a B.A honours and is  working in the field of physical exercise and therapy. Kal has a wealth of experience in providing therapeutic programming to clients with an acquired brain and cognitive disability. Kal also has experience working in a geriatric settings providing care to seniors and patients with strokes. Kal will be seeing clients in London and surrounding areas.

  

Kara Grills - Rehabilitation Therapist

Kara graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts Honors Specialization Kinesiology and Major Psychology. Kara is a registered Kinesiologist, in good standing, with the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario and a professional member with the Ontario Kinesiology Association.

 


Kara has extensive experience working with clients from varying populations and in various therapeutic environments including: long term health care facilities/retirement homes, physiotherapy clinics, fitness centres, and chronic pain clinics. Kara has experience in: developing and implementing exercise programs for individuals with a variety of cognitive and physical abilities, therapeutic taping, proper therapeutic modality use, developing and implementing work hardening programs, and developing programs to treat lower back and neck pain. As a Rehabilitation Therapist with Rehab First Inc., Kara provides physical and cognitive rehabilitation therapy to clients in London and the surrounding areas who have suffered injury or disability as a result of motor-vehicle collisions, workplace accidents or illness. Kara is also certified to complete Functional Ability Evaluations.

 

Karen Pratt – Rehabilitation Therapist

R.Kin, B.A. (Honours)

Karen graduated from Western University in 2016 with a Bachelors of Arts Honours Specialization in Kinesiology. Karen is a registered Kinesiologist, in good standing, with the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario and a professional member with the Ontario Kinesiology Association. Karen is a second year Masters of Science student in the Health and Rehabilitation Sciences program at Western University.

Along with experience working with adults and seniors, Karen’s clinical focus is working with children and developing exercise rehabilitation programs for pediatric populations. Karen has worked for many years as a therapeutic horseback riding instructor and has experience working with children and youth with varied developmental and physical needs. Karen is looking forward to working in the London area as a Rehabilitation Therapist with KidsFirst!
 

Katherine VanderGaag - Senior Rehabilitation Therapist

R.Kin, OTA & PTA, B.A. Kin (Honours)

Katherine Vander Gaag completed her Bachelors of Arts Degree in Honours Kinesiology from the University of Western Ontario and continued her education by attending the Mohawk College Occupational Therapist Assistant and Physiotherapist Assistant program, in which she completed 600 practical placement hours. She continues to be active member of the Ontario Kinesiology Association and is registered with the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario.


Katherine is a Senior rehabilitation therapist at Rehab First Inc., who has extensive experiences working with individuals with catastrophic impairments such as traumatic brain injuries, spinal cords injuries, amputations and chronic pain. Katherine’s scope of practice includes developing and implementing exercise programs for individuals with physical disabilities, mental illnesses and neurological disorders, exercise program assessment and planning, ambulation and gait training, exercise prescription, ergonomic approaches, activities of daily living, assistive devices education and implementation, community reintegration, cognitive and behavioural reactivation, adjustment to injury, educational assistance, hydrotherapy and therapeutic horseback riding.


Katherine lives in Brantford, Ontario and is dedicated to servicing the needs of clientele in the Central Ontario region in addition to the London area.

 

Kristine Dunn – Rehabilitation Therapist

Kristine Dunn is a Rehabilitation Therapist for Rehab First. She completed her Bachelors of Science Degree in Honours
Kinesiology at the University of Western Ontario. She is also a Registered Kinesiologist with the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario and a professional member of the Ontario Kinesiology Association.  Kristine has experience performing functional abilities evaluations, physical demands analysis, developing and implementing work hardening programs and developing exercise rehabilitation programs. As a Rehab Therapist at Rehab First, Kristine works one-on-one with clients providing both cognitive and physical rehabilitation therapy in clinical and community settings.  Kristine provides services within the Barrie Area.

 

Mitra Shafaei, Rehabilitation Therapist

R.Kin, M.Sc

Mitra is a Rehabilitation Therapist at Rehab First, serving the GTA. She holds a Bachelor of Science program in physical education at the Azad University of Iran, Central Tehran and Masters of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Waterloo, with specialization in Biomechanics. Mitra has been registered with the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario since 2013 and a professional member of the Ontario Kinesiology Association since 2006. Mitra is experienced in performing Functional Capacity Evaluations, design and delivery of work conditioning and work hardening programs, functional assessments, as well as developing therapeutic and rehabilitation exercise programs. She is also experienced at offering Post-Offer Employment Testing (POET) assessments, job coaching, hydrotherapy and education on body mechanics. Mitra is a Cancer Exercise Specialist.

 

As a Rehab Therapist at Rehab First, Mitra works one-on-one with clients providing both cognitive and physical rehabilitation therapy in clinical and community settings. She has experience working with a variety of populations including those who have sustained traumatic brain injuries, as well as geriatric populations with conditions such as stroke, Alzheimer’s Disease, dementia, and Parkinson’s. Mitra is bi-lingual, fluent in English and Persian/ Farsi.

 

Reid Cowper – Rehabilitation Therapist

R.Kin, B.Sc.Kin

Reid Cowper graduated from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Honours Kinesiology.  He is a Registered Kinesiologist with the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario, and has also completed a certification course in Soft Tissue Release.  Reid has extensive clinical experience as well as sports and athletic training.  This experience includes conducting post offer of employment testing, functional testing for patients, exercise prescription, active rehabilitation programs and work hardening programs.


Reid is excited to be serving the area of Kitchener/Waterloo for Rehab First as a Rehabilitation Therapist.  He will be providing exercise programming and work hardening programs as well as life skills training and cognitive therapy for clients.

 

Saeed Serbeh – Rehabilitation Therapist

Saeed Serbeh is an Honours graduate holding a Bachelor’s degree in Human Kinetics and Movement Science from the University of Windsor.  He possesses over 8 years of rehabilitation therapy experience and is registered with College of Kinesiologists of Ontario.

He specializes in muscle activation techniques, exercise prescription and development, functional assessments, ergonomic evaluations, hydrotherapy, in home assessments, activities of daily living, physical demands analysis, strength and conditioning and corrective muscle imbalances.

As well as experience working with chronic conditions, cognitive impairments, cardiovascular conditions, spinal cord and traumatic injuries. Saeed will be providing services in the Greater Toronto Area. 

 

Sufyan Saikh - Rehabilitation Therapist

R.Kin, CEP

Sufyan is a Registered Kinesiologist, Certified Exercise Physiologist, and Personal Trainer with experience in Active Rehabilitation, Healthy Lifestyle Management, Nutrition and Personal Training. He has attained his Bachelor of Science in Human Kinetics and graduated from the Exercise Science and Lifestyle Management diploma program at Humber College, where he developed a comprehensive understanding of rehabilitation, work hardening, functional abilities evaluations, as well as creating and implementing exercise programs. Sufyan has experience working in a private clinic, on sports teams, in a retirement and long term care home, as a physical education teacher, and at fitness facilities. He has experience building exercise programs for orthopaedic, metabolic, cardiovascular and cognitive injuries/illnesses. Sufyan will be providing rehabilitation therapy services at Rehab First within the GTA and Durham Region.
